Summary

Tomas' dream has never been closer to reality. He and Elzeth are in uncharted territory when they encounter a dark and foreboding mountain range.

Unfortunately, they aren't alone. They stumble upon a young man, grievously wounded, who tells them a tale beyond belief, a tale of monstrous creatures that roam the mountains. The young man searches for his father, a miner who disappeared in the mountains, but whom the young man insists must still be alive.

Tomas and Elzeth agree to aid in the pursuit of the missing miner, not realizing that their journey high into the mountains and deep under the earth will unearth secrets that should have remained buried forever.
